Fat Panda- Canley Heights

Been a while sine my my last post. To be honest, I’ve been kinda lazy…

Anyway this post doesn’t require much explanation. Just your standard Japanese dishes.

Fat Panda is a Japanese restaurant located in Canley heights. It’s usually pretty busy, and the quality is usually top notch.

Bau Truong Canley Heights

Bau Truong is a Vietnamese restaurant in Canley heights.. Probably one of the lesser frequented restaurants by locals. More reason to try it out ๐Ÿ™‚

Inside is suprisngly very clean and colourful.

Salmon Pho with a generous amount of dill on the top. Not sure any other place in Canley heights that does this? Could be the only one ๐Ÿ™‚

Pennywort Drink Pennywort is a plant. Not really sure how to describe the taste. I like it ๐Ÿ™‚ I find it refreshing.

Red Sichuan – Canley Vale

WP_20150529_19_16_09_ProThere aren’t a great deal of Hot Pot specialty restaurants in Sydneys south west. So I thought i’d give this one a try.
Red Sichuan -basically offers an all you can eat hot pot option or a la carte option. I went for the Hot Pot.

You have a choice of broths to cook your food in. Mild to Spicy, and a plain chicken broth option too. The medium spicy broth was chosen. It had great depth, and was plenty spicy for medium.

WP_20150529_19_44_36_ProWP_20150529_19_19_49_Pro WP_20150529_19_18_34_ProAn array of options are available.

Sliced beef looks nice when it comes out. But disappointing as it is frozen.

Very cool tea pots.

In summary, The Red Sichuan isn’t too bad of a place to go to for dinner if you are feeling something a little spicy and warm. There are a great deal of options to choose from, ย the food tastes alright mostly with the exception of the frozen meat. However the broth is pretty tasty.

The only qualm I had was in regards to the service. The staff were friendly but they didn’t really have the basic hospitality skills. Basic greeting, order taking, etc would go a long way. They did seem a little timid and shy.

Loving Hut #3

Heavenly Salad. Very evident South Eastern flavours. The prawns (vegan) actually taste like prawns. Served with Vegan Prawn chips. yummy. Quite a lot of salad for a side dish.

Sweet and sour soup. A light style of dish. I recommend to have it with rice.

WP_20140803_19_14_45_Pro

Braised fish pot. I quite like this. Tasted a lot like fish. The only criticism i have is that it should have been a little more flaky to mimic the texture of fish. Otherwise a nice dish.

Loving Hut: Canley Heights – Revisit.

Vegan Dim Sims.

I found these to be Mushy and flavourless unfortunately.

Steamed Vegan Buns.

In contrast to my previous visit, I did not enjoy the food quite as much as the last time. Generally I do like the food at Loving Hut. As always the staff are very friendly.

As always I intend to provide more reviews in future.

Chocolate Mousse Dome with Hazelnuts was pretty nice.

WP_20140323_20_32_08_Pro

Oreo Sundae. Nothing to Rave about. Nothing very creative. Just vanilla ice-cream with some Oreos thrown into it.

WP_20140323_20_33_38_Pro

Green Tea Smoothie. Not bad.

Overall I found the experience mediocre. The desserts are nothing to rave about. and the waitstaff don’t do anything beyond serving you.

Twelve Spices Lao & Thai

Heaps of people are flocking to Holy Basil within the South Western Sydney Region for some great Thai food. But if you want to avoid the crowds and have something just as good – I would suggest driving about 5 minutes up the road and trying out Twelve Spices Lao & Thai.

rawprawnsalad

Raw Garlic. Chilli. Garlic. Mint. Fish Sauce. Served on fresh cabbage, onions, carrot. Very intense flavours. The prawns aren’t really overpowering at all.

Padseeew_vegies

Pad See Ew Vegetarian. Must have at every Thai Restaurant I go to. Pad Thai seems to be the go to dish for most people, but i think Pad See Ew is much better.

Strawberry_Fruitshake

Strawberry Shake. Quite Tasty.

Part 2 review coming soon.

Loving Hut: Vegan Restaurant

Went to the Loving Hut: Vegan Restaurant for Dinner.

WP_20131207_16_50_27_Pro

They serve Vietnamese influenced Vegan cuisine, which is the predominant style of food around the area. The menu does contain things such as chips, and vegan burgers though.

WP_20131207_17_15_25_Pro

Duck (fake meat) wraps with pickled cucumber and carrot with coriander to start. Very delicious. Didn’t realise I wasn’t eating meat.

Vegan Pho Noodles with copious amounts of bean sprouts served on the side. Normally I get the “special beef” Pho noodles, and in comparison the Vegan alternative doesn’t quite match up. They are o.k but not quite as good. I think they tried to intensify the flavour by adding heaps of cardamon which was quite off putting.

Vermicelli Noodles with spring rolls and shredded pork.

Quite tasty. A little dry. Which is offset by some sauce served on the side. Maybe some extra vegies/salad to offset it would be better?

I will be conducting more reviews on this restaurant in the future. ๐Ÿ™‚
